Duplicator
Copy a post, page or custom post type as a faithful draft.
Copying a page by hand means pasting blocks and forgetting the custom fields. Duplicator copies the content, every custom field, the terms and the featured image in one click, and every copy starts as a draft.
The free version is not on WordPress.org yet. Its listing will be at wordpress.org/plugins/subset-duplicator and goes live with the first release.
What it does
How Duplicator works
- Copies custom fields as stored
- Every meta row is copied byte for byte and in order, so Advanced Custom Fields, Elementor layouts and SEO settings arrive intact while plugin caches are left behind to rebuild.
- Starts every copy as a draft
- The copy gets a fresh date and an empty slug and the original is never changed, so nothing reaches the front end until somebody publishes it.
- Checks permission once, everywhere
- Row links, bulk actions, both editors, the admin bar, the REST route and WP-CLI all go through one permission check, so a private post or somebody else's draft stays theirs.
- Never leaves a half-made post
- If any step of a copy fails, the copy and any attachments it was given are deleted again before the error is reported.

Screens
What it looks like
These are placeholders, not screenshots. Duplicator is still being built, and a mocked-up admin screen would be a picture of software that does not exist yet. Each frame says what the real image will show.
