Refund policy

Fourteen days to change your mind, a fourteen-day grace period on a failed card, and what a refund does and does not take away from you.

Last changed . This is a draft, so that date says when the wording moved, not when anything came into force.

Fourteen days

You can ask for a full refund within fourteen days of a purchase, for any reason, including that you changed your mind.

Fourteen days rather than thirty, and rather than seven. The number is chosen for one reason: it is long enough to install the thing on a real site, hit the case you bought it for, and find out whether it works. Seven days rewards whoever happens to have a free weekend. Thirty mostly buys a longer gap before the same decision.

You do not have to explain yourself. We may ask what went wrong, and you may ignore the question.

How to ask

[how to ask for a refund] — blank; to be supplied by the business.

There is no route today, because there is no checkout and no support inbox. At launch this will be one request from inside your dashboard, answered by a person, and this paragraph will say so.

What happens when a refund is issued

The payment is returned in full to the method it came from. Stripe handles the return, so how quickly it appears is your bank’s answer and not ours — usually a few working days.

The licence that the payment bought is then no longer active. Concretely, and in the same shape as everything else here:

You loseYou keep
Future updates to the Pro pluginsEvery version already installed, working, with all features on
SupportYour account, your sites and your data
Any remaining hosted credit allowanceThe GPL rights in the code, permanently

A refund does not break your site. It is the same end state as an expired licence, and the terms of service say what that means in full. Nothing is disabled, nothing is deleted, and no banner appears in your admin.

What is outside the window

Three honest exceptions, each with its reason rather than a clause:

  • Hosted credits that have already been spent. A generation request costs us a provider bill the moment it runs, and that cost does not come back. Unused credits are refunded with the licence; consumed ones are not. This is the only part of a purchase that behaves like consumption rather than access, and it is why there is no lifetime tier — an unbounded promise of future provider spend against a one-time payment is how that goes wrong.
  • A renewal you meant to cancel. We will still refund a renewal inside fourteen days of the charge; after that, the term has mostly been used. Cancelling at any time stops the next one, and you keep the term you paid for.
  • Repeated buy-and-refund cycles. Buying, refunding and buying again to take each release is not a refund request, and we will decline it. We have not had to do this and expect not to.

Where consumer law where you live gives you a stronger right than this page does — a statutory cooling-off period, for instance — that law wins. Nothing here is intended to reduce it, and the review that replaces this draft has to check that it does not.

A failed payment is not a cancellation

Separate from refunds, and the same number by coincidence rather than design: when a renewal payment fails, the licence enters a fourteen-day grace period and keeps working in full — updates, support and credits included — while the card is sorted out.

A failed card is usually an expired card. Cutting a customer off on the day their bank reissued a number would generate a support ticket and a bad feeling in exchange for nothing.

If it is still unpaid at the end of the grace period, the licence expires, which again means no updates rather than no plugin.

Development sites are not a trial substitute

Worth saying here rather than only on the pricing page: a development or staging site never consumes a licence slot. You do not have to buy a second licence to try something, and you do not have to use the refund window as a trial to find out whether an upgrade is safe. Test on staging, which is free.
