Most SEO plugins arrive with a score to chase, a dashboard widget and a stream of notices. SEO prints correct titles, meta descriptions, canonical and robots tags, Open Graph, Schema.org JSON-LD and XML sitemaps, and lists what the editor noticed about a post without grading it.
The free version is not on WordPress.org yet. Its listing will be at wordpress.org/plugins/subset-seo and goes live with the first release.
What it does
How SEO works
- Prints one connected schema graph
- WebSite, Organization or Person, WebPage, Article, BreadcrumbList and the author are JSON-LD pieces that point at each other by @id, so search engines read the page as one graph.
- Lists checks instead of a score
- The editor runs keyphrase, link, image and readability checks in the browser as you type and sorts them into problems, notes and what is good, with no grade to chase.
- Imports without touching the old data
- Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO and SEOPress data is read straight from the database in resumable steps, with a preview first, and the other plugin's data is never changed.
- Steps aside for another SEO plugin
- While another SEO plugin is active its front-end output is left alone and Site Health says why, so a site never prints two sets of tags during a switch.
- Adds almost nothing to a page view
- The front end reads one cached option and post meta WordPress has already loaded, and sitemaps are cached and rebuilt only when content changes.
